2 Bathroom Remodeling Trends to Look for This Year
House flippers, if you’re about to begin a new project, or if you’re in the early phases of one, you’ll want to take a minute to read this.
In its annual poll of top interior designers and home improvement professionals, Fixr.com, a home improvement website, sought to gain insight into bathroom remodeling trends expected to emerge this year. The poll included 68 experts who were chosen based on factors including expertise, establishment in the industry, and overall industry impact. Here, we’ve summarized Fixr’s findings.
What’s Gaining Steam in the Bathroom?
A Spa-Like Atmosphere
A majority of design experts, 53 percent to be exact, say spa amenities will be the most popular bathroom remodeling trend this year. After a long day homeowners are looking for a relaxing retreat, and spa elements in a bathroom, like soaking tubs, saunas, steam showers, and similar enhancements, are features that can help homeowners pamper themselves and feel like they’ve booked an appointment at their local spa.
If you want to add a soaking tub to your flip’s master bathroom the cost for one can vary widely. You can expect to pay from $1,000 to $12,000 for a unit, depending on the material and size, according to Fixr. If you’re looking for a less costly, but still indulgent, feature to help give your bath a spa feel consider adding river rocks to the shower basin. During showers the soles of your homeowners’ feet will be massaged with every step. The cost is about $30 per square foot installed.
You might also consider installing vessel sinks in your bathroom. They come in materials like glass, stone, and copper. Waterfall faucets may also be a worthwhile enhancement.
Bold Tile Design
Bold bathroom floor and shower tile will increase in popularity among homeowners this year, according to design experts. More specifically, 43 percent of poll participants forecast that unusual or bold marble floor and shower tile will be the top choice. This not only includes marble of different colors, but marble with dramatic veining as well. Thirty-eight percent of experts feel that tile with bold repeating patterns will win the day. Ceramic mosaic tile with unique patterns placed third in anticipated popularity among homeowners.
