Home Improvements That Matter Most to Millennials (Part 2 of 2)

Millennial home buyers are in search of turnkey properties and want to steer clear of homes that are in need of potentially pricey repairs, a recent study by the National Association of REALTORS revealed.

These young adults currently make up the largest share of home buyers in the nation. As you plan your next flip consider the following home improvements that matter to them most so you can make a millennial match.

Owner’s Suite and Simple

Simply put: your owner’s suite, or master suite, should create a relaxing atmosphere for your homeowner. It should be a retreat from the rigors the day, and an escape from the hustle and bustle of a full house.

Your homeowner should be able to step into the room and feel a warm welcome. You can create this atmosphere by using soothing neutral colors, airy window coverings that allow adequate natural light, and furnishings that are layered with texture.

To raise the level of luxe consider installing a chandelier, which can elevate your space—not only by drawing the eye upward, but by making the room feel like a destination. Wall sconces situated on each side of the bed can provide ambient lighting for nestling with a good book.

Delectable Dining Room

If your dining room is somewhat separate from other spaces make sure it doesn’t feel dark and detached. Dark paint on the walls can shrink its appearance. As with any room you want the dining area to look spacious and inviting, so consider painting with a neutral palette.

Replace traditional chandeliers and light fixtures with ones that have a more modern design. Dress the table with place settings so buyers can envision themselves dining with family and friends during special gatherings, or simply together for dinner on a Thursday night.
