Once you have bought a house and you’re wanting to flip it, there can be a long checklist of things that need to be done. After you’re done with any major fixes and adding a fresh coat of paint on the walls, you may think you’re done. However, it’s important that you consider the flooring in the home as well. This can be a laborious and sometimes expensive process though. That’s why we’re going to tell you 3 signs you should replace the flooring when you flip a house.

1. Cracked or Missing Tiles

If there are cracked or missing tiles in the bathroom, kitchen, or anywhere else throughout the house, you may want to replace the entire flooring. It does seem like an extreme measure but it’s likely the other tiles have been worn and stained. It will be next to impossible to replace individual tiles, therefore it is suggested you replace the entire flooring.

Another reason you might replace tile is due to an outdated color scheme. Bright orange in the bathroom or a muted yellow may have been popular in the past but not so much anymore. A new set of sparkling tiles in these rooms can really boost the value of the house you’re trying to flip.

2. Sagging Wood Floors

With hardwood flooring in the home, you’re in a unique position. If there are any issues with it, you can usually just sand it and refinish it. It’s affordable and often adds to the charm of the house. When looking for signs you should replace the flooring, with wood floors, sagging is one of them. If there are sagging floors, especially in an older home, you may have to replace them. This is usually caused by issues with the support beams or floor joists underneath. But it can also be due to damage or moisture. Make sure to inspect thoroughly and call out an expert when needed.

3. The Carpeting is Over 10 Years Old

You will likely know when carpeting in the home needs to be replaced. While doing a deep cleaning of the carpet can help, some things such as normal wear and tear and rips are hard to fix. Experts also agree that if the carpeting is over 10 years old it should be replaced regardless. Adding plush, new carpet to the house is sure to attract more buyers.
