When you secure a hard money loan to buy a house and flip it, you’re counting on being able to sell it – but what if it has one of these three issues?

3 Little Quirks That Could Prevent Your Flip From Selling

When you’re selling a house – even if you’ve put a ton of work into it and you feel like it’s move-in ready – there are three things that could discourage buyers from making an offer:

  • A front door that sticks
  • Noisy plumbing
  • Squeaky floors

Let’s have a closer look at each.

House Quirk #1: A front door that sticks

If the front door sticks, especially because it’s the first time a buyer’s entering the home, they’re going to immediately wonder what else is wrong with the house. Fortunately, it’s usually a simple fix – so it’s definitely something worth checking before you list the flip for sale.

House Quirk #2: Noisy plumbing

If the toilet makes a lot of noise or continues running long after it’s been flushed, it can be an annoyance that buyers just don’t want to deal with. In most cases, all you need is a new flapper – and that costs less than $10.

House Quirk #3: Squeaky floors

Nails in the subfloor come loose over time, and if you haven’t refloored the house, you may not have even seen them. Typically, those nails are what cause the squeaking noises you hear when you walk – but if you can’t get to them to install screws and stop the sound, you may be able to sprinkle talcum powder around the noisiest floorboards to quiet the noise.
